Most Dynamic Woman Award

NEW YORK, July 18th, 2006- Clarins USA announces the launch of their first annual Most Dynamic Woman Award. Each year, this award will recognize one exceptional woman who has devoted her life to bettering the lives of children facing hardship. Debbe Magnusen, the founder of Project Cuddle®, has been chosen as the first recipient and will be honored at a luncheon here in September. Project Cuddle® is a crisis support center that provides loving, safe, confidential, and legal alternatives for young women contemplating abandoning their babies. The Most Dynamic Woman Award originated in France ten years ago and is currently celebrated in nine other countries. Created in the image of the brand’s founder Jacques Courtin-Clarins, the award reflects his vision for a civic-minded beauty company, dedicated to giving back to the community, to the environment, and in every way – to women. Mr. Courtin’s passion to help women to look and feel their best is matched only by his love for children and a will to protect their innocence. The Most Dynamic Woman Award was born from this commitment, as an effort to pay homage to those women who are making the world a better place for children. “I owe all of my inspiration and most certainly my success to women,” explains Clarins founder Jacques Courtin-Clarins. “This company has always been entirely motivated by love. The Most Dynamic Woman award was a natural extension of this love and Clarins cornerstone philosophies: an appreciation for women and an understanding that children are the key to our future.” Eric Horowitz, President of Clarins USA, furthered this sentiment, “We are excited to expand Clarins global philanthropy to the United States and launch this meaningful award with such a deserving inaugural recipient. Debbe Magnusen, is a very special woman who personifies the values for which this award stands: compassion, courage, devotion, and love for children.” Debbe Magnusen created Project Cuddle® ten years ago, when she found she could no longer stand by, as more and more news stories reported discoveries of abandoned infants in public places. Her organization’s 24-hour hotline: 1.888.6.CUDDLE, had its first call within hours from a young woman who had heard about the new hotline on television. This frightened girl was planning to abandon her soon-to-be-born infant in the local park, putting both mother and child's lives at risk. Through one life-saving call to Project Cuddle®, Debbe stepped in to help coordinate all of her needs from the hospital and obstetrician to an attorney and social counselor and “rescue baby number one” found a home with a loving adoptive family. Debbe is responsible for the rescue of over 550 babies in the past decade. She reserves no judgment for the young mothers and operates completely from a selfless desire to protect these innocent infants and give them a chance at life. Clarins Skin Care Specialists will help raise awareness for Project Cuddle® during the month of September. All visitors to Clarins counter will receive a Project Cuddle® ribbon bracelet and information card so that they can pass this vital information along to anyone in need. In addition to spreading awareness of Debbe Magnusen’s work with Project Cuddle®, Clarins will also be providing concrete financial assistance to help Debbe continue to fund her lifesaving efforts.
